Iraqi bedouin knot pile, wool on wool, 60-70 years old, 2x4.5 feet.
This small, but quaint piece is indicative of the Bedouin-style prayer rugs of southern Iraq. It certainly has a story to tell. It is made of camel hair, which is naturally brown, so no dyes on this one.
Just imagine the long trips through the desert with this rug packed away on a camel or horse, only to be pulled out once a new camp has been established.
*Note: A knot-pile is a three-dimensional textile with up-down, left to right, and perpendicular knots that give it a typical wall-to-wall carpet appearance.
All sizes are approximate, specific measurements available upon request. Condition for all units is included to the best of our knowledge.
