Kurdish knot pile, wool on wool, 50-60 years old, 3x4 feet.
This small, but quaint piece is indicative of Kurdish prayer rugs from the Zagros Mountains. It pops with color but is subdued enough to be good for any room in the house. It has a certain charm in the play of style, color, and shape, clearly a thoughtful weaver at the loom.
*Note: A knot-pile is a three-dimensional textile with up-down, left to right, and perpendicular knots that give it a typical wall-to-wall carpet appearance.
